2026 SMH Flyers Cup Sponsor & Community Thank You

?? THANK YOU FROM THE 2026 SMH FLYERS CUP! ????‍??

What an incredible day!

Now that another Flyers Cup is in the books, we want to take the opportunity to recognize the businesses, sponsors, prize donors and people who helped make this tournament possible.

This tournament is about much more than a day of golf. It is a fundraiser for Sackville Minor Hockey, and the support we receive from our local business community plays a huge part in its success.

? $10,000 HOLE-IN-ONE SPONSORS

A very special thank-you to our two $10,000 Hole-in-One Sponsors:

? Ramar Homes — Chris & Chantal Marchand

? North Shore Drilling — Rene Duguay

Having two $10,000 Hole-in-One opportunities added some extra excitement to the course, and we sincerely appreciate these businesses stepping up to support the Flyers Cup at this level!

?? LONGEST DRIVE SPONSORS

A HUGE thank-you to our two Longest Drive Sponsors:

? Flex Plumbing & Heating

? CLOSEST TO THE PIN SPONSORS

A very special thank-you to our two Closest to the Pin Sponsors:

? G & R CPA

? Pharmasave Millwood — Lisa and the amazing staff

These contest holes are always some of the most talked-about parts of the tournament, and we truly appreciate your support!

? OUR 2026 HOLE SPONSORS

A HUGE thank-you to each of the businesses that stepped forward to sponsor a hole at this year’s tournament:

? Freeman’s Little New York

? United Mortgage Alliance

? Foosing Restaurant

? NeoCon

? EMC

? Pizza Town

? Coastal Rock Removal

? Mr. Mechanic

Every sponsor had their business represented on the course, and their support directly contributed to the success of the tournament.

? OUR INCREDIBLE PRIZE DONORS

Our prize table was a huge part of the Flyers Cup, and it simply wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible group of local businesses that stepped up to support us.

A HUGE thank-you to:

? Kaiser’s Subs

? Sportwheels Sports Excellence

? Back to Health Chiropractic

? CORE Physiotherapy

? CARQUEST

? The Medicine Shoppe

? Happy Dad

? Justin Corbeil

Whether it was a gift card, certificate, prize or another contribution, every donation helped us build an amazing prize table for our golfers.

? AND SO MANY PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES

A very special thank-you to Sobeys, 752 Sackville Drive, for their tremendous support of our tournament meal and for helping us provide the quality and quantity of food we wanted for our golfers.

Thank you to Lost Creek Golf Club, including Blake, Dee and the entire staff, for once again welcoming us and helping us put on such a great event.

Thank you to Lenny Zappia of EMC, who returned as our MC and once again did an outstanding job — and also generously provided coolers of ice-cold water for our golfers.

Thank you to Jon Cyr and Cyrius Designs for helping us make sure our sponsors received the recognition they deserved through all of our tournament signage.

Thank you to Kelly and Johnny MacAskill for taking on the enormous job of cooking for everyone and helping us serve an incredible meal.

And thank you to Tara, who took care of receiving the tournament payments and helped keep everything organized leading up to the event.

Thank you to Rob Nurnber, our president, for support with prizes and sponsors.

And a very special thank-you to Deanne, who took on the enormous job of managing so much of what happened behind the scenes. From organizing and coordinating the meal and the people helping with it, to the prizes and tables, setting up the celebration area and speakers, helping with photos and videos, assisting with the Bee Quick Putting Challenge and taking care of countless other jobs throughout the day — Deanne helped keep everything moving and made sure so many of the details came together. ??

Most importantly, THANK YOU TO OUR GOLFERS! ??‍??

You filled the tournament, supported the event, supported our sponsors and made the day what it was.

?? Now we’re asking everyone in the Sackville Minor Hockey community to return that support.

When you need a restaurant, tradesperson, professional service, sporting goods, health and wellness services, or somewhere to shop, please remember the businesses listed above.

These are businesses that said YES when Sackville Minor Hockey came asking for support.

The best thank-you we can give them is to support the businesses that support our kids and our community.

Please share this post, remember these names and, whenever possible, SHOP LOCAL AND SUPPORT OUR FLYERS CUP SPONSORS AND DONORS! ????

From everyone involved with the 2026 SMH Flyers Cup — THANK YOU!

**We couldn’t do it without you”

Volunteer & Coaching Certifications 2026/27 Season

There will be a new Coaching Reimbursement Form for 2026-27 in the coming months.
Only expenses required at your coaching level will be reimbursed; You will not be reimbursed for advanced-level courses, or courses potentially needed in the future. Submit receipts after the course and documentation are completed.

Questions? Contact Craig Foley at riskmanagement@flyershockey.ca

Volunteeer Certification Requirements

All SMHA Volunteers and Coaches must obtain certifications as per Hockey Nova Scotia and Hockey Canada.

Sackville Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) requires eligible volunteers to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

What's New for 2026-27?

SMHA is now using the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) online Criminal Record Check system, which replaces the MyBackCheck system used in previous seasons.

Volunteers living outside HRM must obtain their CRC/VSC through their local RCMP detachment or other police service.

Child Abuse Registry (CAR) checks are not required.

Before You Apply

You will be asked to upload a Letter of Request during the application process. Please use this Hockey Nova Scotia letter as provided by SMHA.

Apply Online

Complete your CRC/VSC using the HRP online portal:

Halifax Regional Police Online Record Check Portal

Important Information
  • Save a PDF copy of your receipt after submitting your application.
  • CRC/VSC fees will be reimbursed once you are rostered in an approved volunteer position for the 2026/27 season.
  • If fingerprints are required, you will receive instructions from HRP on next steps.
  • If HRP requests in-person identity verification, you must complete this within 15 days of receiving the notification email. Failure to do so will result in your application being cancelled, and reimbursement will not be available.
  • Processing times are typically around 14 days, depending on service volumes.
  • Please check your junk/spam folders regularly, as communications and results may not always arrive in your inbox.
  • Completed record checks are available for download for 30 days only.

Submit Your Results

Once you receive your completed CRC/VSC (typically a two-page PDF), please forward it to: RiskManagement@Flyershockey.ca. This ensures your certification can be recorded in your Hockey Canada profile.

Required Training

The Shift Forward Parent/Guardian Program remains a requirement for the 2026/27 season. Registration opens July 20 through your Spordle account.

Need Help?

For issues with the online record check application, contact Triton Customer Service: 1-844-874-8667

For SMHA volunteer screening questions: RiskManagement@FlyersHockey.ca

Each required course is linked on the Hockey Nova Scotia's Volunteer Requirements Page .

  • Certification Requirements must be completed by December 1, 2026.
  • Hockey Nova Scotia will remove coaches from Official HCR Rosters if Certification Requirements are not completed by December 1, 2026.
  • This may impact the team's ability to practice and participate in Games & Tournaments.

Checking Your Own HCR Profile

SMHA Volunteers and Coaches are responsible for logging into the Hockey Canada Registry (aka HCR 3.0) to check the status of their own credentials and any additional requirements for the upcoming season.
