N.S. suspends out-of-province travel for kids under 12 taking part in sport, art events

Hello Flyers,  Please see the following news release/ and Hockey Nova Scotia's statement regarding team travel out of province for "sports related" activites for kids aged 11 and younger.  We have enclosed the article as well as links to the new information. We will post more information as it develops. We know this may impact some of our teams, please reach out for futher help if needed regarding tournaments etc. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we navigate the ever changing COIVD-19 Protocols.   CLICK HERE FOR FULL GLOBAL NEWS ARTICLE CLICK HERE FOR NS TRAVEL INFORMATION Good afternoon everyone,  Earlier today, the province announced that effective immediately, there are new restrictions on out-of-province travel for children age 11 and younger for the purpose of participating in sports, arts, culture events. Children age 11 and younger are also restricted from entering Nova Scotia for these activities. Individuals, businesses and organizations in Nova Scotia cannot host sports games, competitions and tournaments that include children 11 and younger from outside the province as participants. They also cannot participate in these types of events outside Nova Scotia. These restrictions will remain in place until at least early January and will be re-evaluated then. Children can continue to travel to attend these types of events as spectators. They can continue to travel for regular practices, lessons and rehearsals, which is lower risk because they are interacting with the same group all the time. All other travel restrictions remain in place. They are detailed here. To read the complete release from the province, please click here. These measures are in place to ensure that we can continue to keep playing. Thank you all for your hard work and continued support. This week is extremely busy for RiskManagement@FlyersHockey.ca (Craig Foley) and Registration@FlyersHockey.ca (Helen Scammell) but we are here to help. Reach out with questions. Last thing anyone wants is for Bench Staff to be removed by HockeyNS.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Addressing Inappropriate Conduct Hello SMH Families, Over the past couple of weeks there has been separate incidents where it has been alleged that players have used discriminatory and hurtful language toward other players. Though these incidents are being investigated, we wanted to take a moment to talk about this.   The use of discriminatory or hurtful language toward others and bullying or harrassing others is not okay in any circumstance. It is disappointing that these things still find a way into this great game of hockey but they do. The only way to truly rid our game of this, is for each one of us to commit to stand against it. The best way to do that is to educate ourselves, communicate with and support each other. Hockey is a game meant for everyone. Aside from healthy competition, good sportsmanship and just plain old fun, hockey teaches so many important life lessons. Everyone should have the opportunity to participate free of discrimination, bullying and harassment.   Coaches and Managers, we ask you to have these conversations with your teams.    SMH families, we encourage you to have these conversations at home with your kids.     In the links below, you will find some helpful information. Please take the time to read through the information and have the conversations.  Also you will find a link to Hockey Nova Scotia's reporting mechanism for issues with regards to discrimination, bullying and harrassment.    SMH Behavior Policy  SMH Social Media Policy  HNS Diversity & Inclusion Task Force Report & Recommendations  HNS On-Ice Bullying Policy  HNS Complaints & Investigations   We want to thank our teams and our officials for handling these issues appropriately, allowing the investigation process to take its course.    Together as an association, let's be supportive and respectful of each other, our officials, coaches, players, and our opponents.    Yours in hockey and community, SMH Executive & Board Members

Gift card phishing scam | Executive Email Addresses being Spoofed

It has come to our attention that SMHA Executive email addresses and names are being spoofed in a Phishing Scam attempt. This is not the first time that SMHA names or email addresses are spoofed to make it look as though the sender is really one of our Executive or Board Members. This is likely targetting Team Managers, team staff, and those Treasurers who are using an @FlyersHockey.ca team email address.  How this looks: You may receive an email that may look like it comes from one of our Executive or Board of Directors, asking for some sort of favour.  If you reply, the next email asks you to purchase a gift card on their behalf.  The one we saw today was requesting an Amazon gift card, but there have been others in the past. The message usually says they need the gift card immediately, that they are too busy to do it, and will pay you back as soon as possible. These emails are not legitimate. They are being sent by malicious entities who are impersonating our named Executive and Board Members to gain trust and exploit people. These kinds of fraudulent emails, known as "phishing", attempt to gain your trust in order to access your personal and/or credit card information, or to get money (in the form of gift cards). DO NOT click any links or reply to such messages, and delete these emails immediately. If you believe you have received this type of phishing email, you can contact the person whose name appears in the email (not by replying) to find out if the request is valid. SMHA Executives or Board Members will *never* email you to ask you to purchase a gift card, for your bank information, or credit card numbers via email. Thank you, SMHA Board of Directors

HNS UPDATE ON TRAVEL TO NEW BRUNSWICK - Nov 3rd, 2021

From: Garreth MacDonald <gmacdonald@hockeynovascotia.ca>Sent: Wednesday, November 3, 2021 4:10 PMSubject: UPDATE ON TRAVEL TO NEW BRUNSWICK   Good afternoon everyone,   Following our consultations with Nova Scotia Public Health and Nova Scotia Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang, we have been advised that fully-vaccinated teams can now travel to New Brunswick for sporting events provided that the event (game, tournament, etc.) they are attending has a requirement for both spectators and participants to show proof of vaccination (POV).   Teams with unvaccinated players under 12 are not permitted to travel to tournaments in New Brunswick where a circuit breaker is in place. Please visit the Government of New Brunswick website to find up-to-date information about what areas of the province are currently under circuit breaker restrictions.    While travelling to New Brunswick for competition, all local COVID-19 protocols and Public Health orders must be followed. Our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tina Atkinson would also like to strongly encourage all of our teams and hockey families to follow these guidelines to further decrease the risk of a COVID-19 exposure:   Wear masks at all times while indoors (only removing them for eating, drinking and playing hockey). Always wear masks while in crowded outdoor spaces where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Avoid crowded restaurants (and only visit restaurants where servers are masked). Wash and sanitize hands frequently. Avoid close contact with people you don’t know. Consider shopping for essential items only. We would also like to remind you all to follow the Rebound Plan 2.0 and keep a close eye on exposure notices from the province.   Sincerely,   Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia   Arnie Farrell President Hockey Nova Scotia     Garreth MacDonald Communications & Special Events Director Hockey Nova Scotia   259 Commodore Drive Dartmouth, NS, B3B 0M1 902.454.9400   hockeynovascotia.ca

2021-22 CMHL Regular Season Schedule & Game Rescheduling Tips

From: Matt Oxford <centralminorhockeyleague@gmail.com>Sent: Friday, October 29, 2021 9:19 AMSubject: 2021-22 CMHL Regular Season Schedules Now Posted   Hi everyone,    The regular season schedules have now been posted to the CMHL site. Those games should populate to your respective association team calendars.    There was a glitch while uploading the U15-AA schedules. Those games will be removed and then reposted in the next 24 hours.   There is no 'highlight' feature indicating games that are marked as TBR on the site. The game will just indicate TBA for example. Reminder on process for reschedules. Please keep this consistent for everyone's sanity. Email Subject Line: Division - Game Number - Matchup (i.e. U11-AA Game 212 - Bedford Blue Vs Dartmouth Navy) Include the opposing association rep/ice scheduler so they can notify their respective team. If your association has multiple people handling game reschedules by division, please pass along those contacts. I will create a contact spreadsheet for everyone in the next few days.  NOTE - If you can provide 4 days notice or more for a reschedule date, you just need to email me and cc the opposition association rep so they can notify their team. If your reschedule date is less than 4 days notice, contact the association rep to confirm their team can play and then notify me of the confirmed date.    Regards,    Matt OxfordSchedulerCentral Minor Hockey League 902.223.5289 centralminorhockeyleague@gmail.comhttps://centralminorhockey.ca/

U9 Evaluations - Final Lists to be posted by Wednesday

Great work to all the kids out this weekend at the U9 Evaluations! Please note that we apologize for miscommunications surrounding the U9 Goaltenders today but can re-assure you their data is only based on the "goalie specific" sessions and any goalie who missed a session today will not be affected by this. Now that the data has all been collected from our sessions this weekend we will need time to sort the information and meet with coaches to put the teams together. We hope to have all of this information compiled and posted on our site by end of day Wednesday. We know these can be stressful times for players and parents so we ask that you encourage your players and let them know they did great and no matter which team they end up on it will be a fun year in hockey! Updates will be posted on the U9 Evaluations page which can be found by navigating to Tryouts & Evaluations. Thank you again for your patience through this process and our transition to our new website platform. Reminder: Be sure to sign up for SMH General Information emails here: EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION

HNS & Sport NS - COVID-19 Protocol for Proof of Full Vaccination for Events and Activities

Please find below another update from HNS and Sport NS in regards to the latest announcement by the Nova Scotia Government. From: Garreth MacDonald <gmacdonald@hockeynovascotia.ca>Date: September 29, 2021 at 5:30:12 PM ADTTo: Garreth MacDonald <gmacdonald@hockeynovascotia.ca>Subject: FW: COVID-19 Update: September 29, 2021 Good evening everyone,   Today, the Nova Scotia government announced that the province will transition into a modified Phase 5 on Monday, Oct. 4. To read the complete news release from the province, please click here.   Phase 5 of Nova Scotia’s reopening plan begins cautiously. While some restrictions will be lifted, others will be maintained:   Masks, for example, will continue to be mandatory in public places. So in hockey, our mask policy will remain the same as it was in Phase 4: On the ice, masks are not required during practices, training sessions, and games. Off the ice, masks will be required. Please note that coaches and instructors who work with more than one group must wear a mask at all times while inside the facility (including while on the ice). Physical distancing and gathering limits for events hosted by a recognized business or organization will be lifted. Proof of full vaccination will be required for non-essential events and activities (including all Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned events and activities).   We just received the update below on proof of full vaccination from Sport Nova Scotia. You will also find the province’s COVID-19 Protocol for Proof of Full Vaccination for Events and Activities here.   Over the next few days, we will be updating our Rebound Plan to reflect this cautious move to Phase 5 and the newly released COVID-19 Protocol for Proof of Full Vaccination for Events and Activities.   We will pass along any updates as soon as we receive them.   Thank you for all that you do.   Arnie Farrell President Hockey Nova Scotia   Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia     From: Sport Nova Scotia <communications@sportnovascotia.ca>Date: Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 4:55 PMSubject: COVID-19 Update: September 29, 2021   Dear provincial sport organizations, Please see the Province’s overview about phase 5 below. We believe that the links provided will address many of  your questions. Additionally, we hope to have an updated sport-specific FAQ shortly- we will share it when it’s available. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Jamie Ferguson at jferguson@sportnovascotia.ca.    Thanks, SNS Communications      Good afternoon,    Premier Houston, Minister Thompson, and Dr. Strang, Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, are announcing the final details of Nova Scotia’s proof of full vaccination protocol, which goes into effect as Phase 5 begins on Monday, October 4.    Proof of Full Vaccination Anyone age 12 or older who is not fully vaccinated will not be able to access discretionary, recreational, or non-essential activities, with minimal exceptions. We encourage everyone to carefully read the proof of full vaccination protocol.    We also thank everyone who provided insight and input on operational considerations and resources that will be helpful as your sector and organization implements the protocol. We want to highlight a few changes and areas of additional clarification that have been made based on conversations with people in many sectors in the past week: ·         Proof of vaccination will be required for dining in at food establishments, including fast food restaurants and coffee shops, but not for take-out, delivery, drive-through or food courts.  ·         Proof of vaccination is not required for general access to public libraries (to do things such as borrow books and use computers). However, people will need to show proof of vaccination to participate in public library programs.  ·         Legislatively required meetings where people have a democratic right to participate, such as municipal council meetings where citizens can present, do not require proof of vaccination.  ·         Proof of full vaccination is not required for full-time or part-time staff of businesses and organizations that host events and activities that are subject to the protocol. It is required for volunteers who host, lead, or organize these events and activities. A list of the events and activities is in section 3.1 of the protocol.  ·         Businesses and organizations are not able to keep records of people’s proof of vaccination without their consent because it is private health information. However, they can get consent from people to keep this information. A template consent form is available in the guide for businesses and organizations that will need to check for proof of full vaccination. More information is in section 2.4 of the protocol.    Proof of Full Vaccination Resources  To help support your organization and staff in implementing the proof of full vaccination protocol, the following resources are (or will soon be) available:  ·         Proof of full vaccination required signage ·         Consent form for recording vaccination status (see Appendix B) ·         How to access Nova Scotia COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination ·         Guide for participants at events and activities requiring proof of full vaccination ·         Guide for businesses and organizations to check proof of full vaccination ·         Nova Scotia coronavirus website ·         Nova Scotia Health Protection Act Order (will reflect phase 5 updates on October 4) ·         Skills Online NS offers free online training courses that may help your business/organization manage challenging situations.    We ask you to share the information and resources with your members and other organizations that will need to check for proof of vaccination.     Phase 5 Update  Phase 5 will start on October 4 with a cautious approach. Most restrictions will be lifted while some will remain in place. ·         There will no longer be a requirement for physical distance.  ·         There will no longer be gathering limits for events hosted by a business organization. The informal gathering limits of 25 people indoors and 50 outdoors will remain in place.  ·         Masks will still be required in indoor public places. ·         As noted above, the proof of full vaccination requirement will start October 4.  ·         Current border restrictions will remain in place and be expanded to include people coming from PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador. That means self-isolation will still be required after travel for people who aren’t fully vaccinated (at least 7 days plus 2 negative tests). International travelers will continue to follow federal requirements. ·         Otherwise, the only restrictions that will remain in place for the general population are those related to management of COVID-19 cases. For example, people with symptoms must still get tested, isolate while they wait for results and continue to isolate if they test positive. ·         We will be forwarding a FAQ for your organization to use. It will be sent when it is fully developed.   Thank you for your continued support. We’ll continue to keep you informed. For the most up-to-date information, visit the website.

Registration Updates: Online Registration Closes Tomorrow Night

Reminder: Deadline for Online Registration closes tomorrow night, Sept 26th at 11:59pm. Please check the lists below and make sure you see your player(s) names where it should be in advance of the initial evaluation and tryout groups. If you've cancelled your registration and have already been communicating with Registration@FlyersHockey.ca about this - and your player is still on the list below - don't worry about this. It is a bit complicated to remove the cancellations from the data (but we are working on this). It is also much easier to remove a player from an evaluation or tryout group than it is to add them in. Any questions send to Registration@FlyersHockey.ca The list below is provided to help families check that their player is registered - and for the U11+ players, to make sure that the Competitive Tryout checkmarks are where they should be. We do expect there are some errors on the list, since some families checked "yes" for comp tryouts on the questionnaire but didn't add the fee on, and others said "no" to comp tryouts but did have the fee added. Please email Registration@FlyersHockey.ca with updates ASAP.     L2P (U6) First Name Last Name EVA ABBEY LEROY ATKINSON MADISON BACKER PETER BRIAND KYLE CAMPBELL CONNOR CHAN RORY CHOLOCK SHEA Covid-19 Update - Sept 21, 2021

Please read carefully the latest information that Hockey Nova Scotia has provided and click on the link to review the HNS COVID-19 Vaccination Policy:  Subject: HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA PROOF OF VACCINE POLICY Good afternoon everyone, The health and safety of our membership is the top priority of Hockey Nova Scotia. Earlier this month, the province announced that as of Oct. 4, people who are 12 and older will need to provide proof of full vaccination to both participate in and watch indoor and outdoor sports practices, games, competitions, and tournaments. Hockey Canada Registration System - HCR 3.0

As the regular season approaches we are urging SMHA families to log in to the new Hockey Canada Registration System, also known as HCR 3.0.    HCR 3.0 is a universal platform for managing all Hockey Canada participants, both players and volunteers, in associations all across Canada.   To Get Started: Please visit https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home   How to Set Up HCR 3.0 - Instructions (with screenshots)     Follow the steps laid out in the document above to create your new HCR 3.0 account and link your existing Hockey Canada profiles from prior seasons.   IF YOU HAVE BEEN A VOLUNTEER in prior seasons - even if it was several years ago -,please especially note Step 10 on Page 6 of the .pdf document..."One of the most important first steps is to link your old HCR participant account." Follow the instructions and screenshots, and choose "self" from the drop down list. In the same way, search for your hockey players in the system.    CHECK YOUR FAMILY 50-50 CREDIT from your carried-forward SMHA 50-50 Fundraiser. The SMHA Finance Committee spent dozens of hours in the last several weeks manually doing this work. Once you are logged in with profiles linked, you should be able to click on "Purchases" and see any credits that exist for the upcoming season from prior season SMHA 50-50. Questions about your family's 50-50 Credit can be directed to finance@flyershockey.ca, and please CC registration@flyershockey.ca.    In summary - please don't put this off. Visit https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home, create an account, and link your family's profiles - including your own - if you've ever volunteered with Hockey Canada. By doing this now you're ensuring that when it is time for registration, the process will be seamless. After registration opens there might be a longer turnaround time with responses to emails which is why people should set up HCR 3.0 now. Covid-19 Update - Sept 17, 2021

Subject: Sport & Recreation Proof of Vaccine FAQ *************** Latest update from Hockey NS and Sports NS:   We just received this attached file from Sport Nova Scotia. It’s an FAQ document from the province aimed at answering some of the questions on proof of vaccine from the sport and recreation sector.   Sport & Rec Proof of Vaccination FAQ   We know you all have a lot of questions and we wanted to get this information to you as soon as we received it. It should be noted that the proof of vaccination policy is still being completed, so additional information will be passed along as it’s made available to us.   In the meantime, we are reviewing the answers provided today and will continue to finalize a Hockey Nova Scotia vaccine policy over the next few days. We aim to have this to you next week in time for our provincial member call on Wednesday.   Thank you for your continued support and patience.   Yours in Hockey,   Arnie Farrell President Hockey Nova Scotia   Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia   Garreth MacDonald Communications & Special Events Director Hockey Nova Scotia   http://hockeynovascotia.ca

Covid-19 Update - Sept 15, 2021

Please review the latest update from Hockey NS and Sports NS shown below.    Hockey NS Update:   The province announced that the move to Phase 5 of the provincial reopening plan will be delayed until Oct. 4.   Sport Nova Scotia has provided an update after Tuesday’s announcement:   COVID-19 Update: September 14, 2021Today the province announced that Nova Scotia will delay moving into phase 5 of the reopening plan until October 4.  Starting Oct. 4, people who are 12 and older will need to provide proof of full vaccination to participate in most events and activities that bring groups of people together. While the policy is not yet final, it will apply to participants and spectators for indoor and outdoor sports practices, games, competitions and tournaments as well as indoor and outdoor extracurricular school-based activities, including sports.  We will continue to update you as more information about the details of the vaccine policy become available to us.    Quick Notes-An exception policy for people who cannot get vaccinated because of a valid medical or behavioural reason is being developed. -Children who turned 12 between January 1 and October 4 this year will have until December 31 to attend events and activities while they get vaccinated; children who turn 12 after October 4 will have three months from their birthday.    Link: Province of Nova Scotia Press Release: September 14   Regards, SNS Communications   To read the province’s press release, please click here.   As stated in Sport Nova Scotia’s update below, “Starting Oct. 4, people who are 12 and older will need to provide proof of full vaccination to participate in most events and activities that bring groups of people together. While the policy is not yet final, it will apply to participants and spectators for indoor and outdoor sports practices, games, competitions and tournaments as well as indoor and outdoor extracurricular school-based activities, including sports.”   We all need to do our part to ensure we get to Phase 5. As part of this effort, we once again strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated to do so.   From now until Oct. 4, we would like to remind you that we remain in Phase 4 of the province’s reopening plan. During Phase 4, players, coaches, and officials can practice, train, and compete with up to 59 people in the field of play without social distancing. You are reminded that the field of play refers to the ice surface, team benches, penalty box, timekeeper’s box, and dressing room.   Hockey Nova Scotia applied for and received special exemption from the province and Sport Nova Scotia to allow for a group of this size to be permitted in the field of play during Phase 4. It allows for competition between two teams. To learn more about Phase 4 and what it means for hockey, please click here.   We know you will likely have a lot of questions about today’s announcement, the implementation of this policy, as well as the exception policy that the province is still developing. We will continue to work with Sport Nova Scotia and the province to seek clarity around these issues and we will update you as we receive more information.   As always, we would like to thank you all for your hard work and continued support.   Yours in Hockey,   Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia   Arnie Farrell President Hockey Nova Scotia   Garreth MacDonald Communications & Special Events Director Hockey Nova Scotia   http://hockeynovascotia.ca   Thank you for your ongoing patience, as soon as we understand how the announced changes will be implemented by HNS and HRM Facilities we will send additional updates.

Questionnaire: Sharing Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit to a sibling

This message pertains to SMHA Families with Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit to use on two or more children who have not yet registered.   You can ignore this message if: -you currently have one child in SMHA and do not need to transfer credits to a sibling -you already registered during the 2-day window that Regular Season Registration was live in early August   ************************** When Hockey Canada transitioned to HCR 3.0, the Registration and Finance/Treasurer team believed Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit could continue to be shared easily among one family, as was the case in prior HCR systems. We quickly realized the back end of HCR 3.0 would not meet SMHA's complex Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit needs.Rest assured that the credits are all still there... The problem is that we cannot move and redeem 50/50 Credits in the same way as Hockey Canada's prior registration system. We have now waited an entire month for HCR developers to come up with a fix. We are hopeful that something more robust will be in place for next season... thereby allowing a seamless sharing of credits between siblings. However with SMHA Competitive Tryouts starting in a few weeks, we simply must get Registration live again and we cannot spare more time waiting on their answer. ************************** Questionnaire is found here: https://forms.gle/SZK2p2TF1sFfu9xGA **************************   Helen (SMHA Registrar) and Tara (SMHA Finance Director) need to share your credits between your children manually. Right now the credit is "attached" to one player in your family. Even if you had $5000 in carried-forward 50/50 attached to one player, the system would say you owe money for that player's sibling(s).In the Questionnaire above, tell us which registration level you're planning to sign each sibling up for, so that we can move just enough credit to each sibling. We will make the changes you request in the back end of HCR 3.0 manually. Then - when you register online in the coming days - it should be seamless.  At this time, Please do not include or worry about any desired "Transfer to Team" amounts to cover Team Fees during the season. We will cross that road when we get to it, and it may require the same manual process unless Hockey Canada develops something in the meantime.Anticipated FAQ-How do I know how much credit we have?Log into HCR 3.0. In the grey silhouette (top right hand corner) click My Account. Then click Purchases on the left hand side. The negative amount showing in the column "Due" is the credit available. Unfortunately in the Parent view it doesn't indicate which player has the credit. We will be able to figure it out when you provide us with the names of all players.-What if I don't have enough to cover the 2nd (3rd, etc) child's registration in full? That is completely fine. The HCR 3.0 system will try and apply whatever credit it can first, then you can pay via EMT or Credit Card for the balance-How will I know when it is done?Helen (Registration@FlyersHockey.ca) or Tara (Finance@FlyersHockey.ca) will email you when your credits are shared between siblings properly. Once you have that email from us, you can proceed with registration anytime after 9:00am on Saturday, September 11.-What if I have questions when I'm in the middle of online Registration, and it isn't showing up how I thought it would?Your best bet is to send an email to Registration@FlyersHockey.ca for us to look into it. There is no rush - there will be tryouts spots for everyone who is signed up before the Sept 26, 2021 deadline.**************************2021-2022 Registration FeesL2P: $450U7: $600U9: $725U11 Rec: $725U11 Comp: $825U13 Rec: $725U13 Comp: $825U15 Rec: $725  U15 Comp + A, AA Checking Clinic: $875U15 Comp: $825U18 Rec: $725  U18 Comp: $825**************************You will receive a copy of your responses via email.Thank you for your patience throughout the pre-season this year. SMHA General Update - Pre-Season Camp Updates, Registration (re)Opens this Weekend, Siblings Sharing 50/50 Credits

Quick Note re: Pre-Season Camps Pre-Season Camps are now underway. Please keep the following points in mind as per our SMHA Safety Rep, Danielle (Safety@FlyersHockey.ca). Thank you to the Covid Screening and On-Ice volunteers for helping out. Spectators are to continue wearing non-medical masks when indoors until directed otherwise by the Sackville Arena Parents are not allowed in the dressing rooms Please do not crowd around the doors Registration We are pleased to (re)open the SMHA Regular Season this weekend. The SMHA Regular Season Registration Window is as follows: Registration Opens: 9:00am Saturday, Sept 11, 2021 Registration Closes: 11:59pm, Sunday, Sept 26, 2021   Things to note: - Stay tuned for a complete News Release from Hockey Nova Scotia re: recent Nova Scotia Public Health updates. Sport Nova Scotia has already released a statement. We will communicate more as soon as we get further information from Hockey Nova Scotia, so please check back to www.FlyersHockey.ca for updates. - No Pay, No Play. Registration must be paid in full before the first ice time. -There were about 200 SMHA Regular Season Registrations completed in early August when Regular Season Registration was online for 18hrs. Those completed registrations are still valid and no action is required from those families. -There is no upper cap; everyone who wants to play will be able to play provided they sign up on time.  - You *must* complete registration during the above registration window so that ice times can be planned appropriately for Competitive Tryouts and Evaluations.  - If you miss the deadline, you are NOT guaranteed to be part of the Competitive Tryouts process.      Sharing Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit Among Siblings for Regular Season Registration Some SMHA families will receive an important email this evening from Registration@FlyersHockey.ca. The email will contain a questionnaire relating to sharing Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit among siblings.    The email is targeting families in SMHA that have: more than one player in SMHA, AND a sizable Carried-Forward 50/50 Credit - meaning families with credit to pay for more than one player's registration this season. Families must fill in that Questionnaire ASAP. There is work that must be done on the back end of HCR by the Registration & Finance volunteers for each player in these families, so it is not a small task. This workaround is only useful if it is done *before* these families register their players for the season.   If this specific situation applies to your family - even if registration opens before we get back to you - please wait until you have an individual reply from Helen (Registration) or Tara (Finance) before attempting to register!    Looking Ahead Early October: Competitive Tryouts for U11, U13, U15, and U18 Early-to-Mid October: Evaluations for U7 and U9  Mid October: Recreation Evaluations for U11, U13, U15, and U18 Teams Mid-to-Late October: Teams finalized, both Players and Coaches/Volunteers End of November: First Flyers 50/50 of the 2021-2022 Hockey Season.  December 1: Deadline for Mandatory Coach Certifications & Criminal Record Checks for volunteers (Contact Craig, RiskManagement@FlyersHockey.ca for more information)     Questions re: Registration can be directed to Registration@FlyersHockey.ca, and questions re: Credits can be directed to Finance@FlyersHockey.ca; Please continue to be patient as we are dealing with a full-time volume of emails on a volunteer basis. Thank you to all SMHA Families for their patience during this transition to HCR 3.0.

Pre-Season Camp & Registration - Aug 30th Update

We are excited to be announcing that the Sackville Minor Hockey Association has moved to this new Website platform, hosted by GrayJay right here in the HRM! As you can imagine, with this large of a transition, there are some speed humps along the way and we appreciate your patience as we move to our new home. We have a few updates at this point that may require your attention so please read carefully and respond where necessary. Pre-Season Camp Registration- Pre-Season Camp groups will be posted on Aug 31st at flyershockey.ca- Any unpaid amounts are due immediately. Please contact "finance@flyershockey.ca" and cc "registration@flyershockey.ca" to complete payment & pre-season registration.- Any unpaid spots are subject to be filled by players on the waiting list after Aug 31st at Midnight.- Payments can be made via EMT to "finance@flyershockey.ca" with the player's name in the message.- You can log into HCR 3.0 https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home and click on "My Account" and then "Purchases" on the left-hand side to confirm registration & view outstanding balances or credits. Any questions regarding the pre-season camp registration can be sent to finance@flyershockey.ca and registration@flyershockey.ca  Regular Season & Tryout Registration - Update SMH Volunteers are working hard with Hockey Canada Registration (HCR 3.0) technical team to get our registration system back online There were two main issues. The first is already resolved, and the second is proving to be more of a challenge. Please stay tuned to flyershockey.ca and/or our Social Media accounts for updates. As soon as we have registration re-opened it will be posted online. First - In the18hrs that regular season registration was online on August 8-9, the "Competitive Tryouts" add-on as part of Registration was making itself "Mandatory" intermittently, and not letting users unselect it. Many people were charged this in error whom are either not eligible for it due to being too young, or just not wanting to try our for competitive. Most have been refunded and it continues to be tracked closely. Any questions on this part can be directed to finance@flyershockey.ca and registration@flyershockey.ca.  Second - We have had some issues transferring 50/50 carry over amounts between siblings. This has always has been a labour-intensive behind-the-scenes process that the accounting and registrar group has handled... however the new system lacks the same functionality that we were used to, and doesn't easily allow this movement of credits within the same family. We are working with the HCR 3.0 development and tech support team on this. This affects enough SMHA families that we want it fully functional before opening up Registration again. Rest assured that everyone's existing credits are perfectly fine - there has been no issue with the credits themselves, just our ability to move them between siblings.  There will be ample time and enough spots for everyone to register for the regular season; We understand other associations have Registrations open. Hockey NS set the start of the season as October - we are not behind or late.   Competitive Tryouts for U11 and up will be in early October. The Competitive U15 Checking Clinic will be in early October as well. Programming for U6 (Learn2Play) and the Evaluations for U7, U9, and +U11 Recreation will be after the Competitive Tryout process is complete, likely starting in mid-October. Again - a huge thank you to SMHA Families! The Volunteers of Sackville Minor Hockey Association appreciate your patience while SMHA navigates these new systems and transitions.   Loading…
