Each week, SMHA will recognize a "Flyer of the Week" based on outstanding performance and contributions, both on and off the ice. This recognition can go to a player or a volunteer, emphasizing the spirit of teamwork and community that makes hockey so special.
Hockey in our community isn't just about what happens on the ice—it's also about the positive impact we have off the ice.
The Flyer of the Week can be awarded for any of the following reasons:
- On-ice achievements: A game-winning goal, an incredible save, remarkable teamwork, or a standout play.
- Off-ice contributions: A player showing kindness to a teammate, volunteering in the community, or helping create a positive atmosphere for their team.
- Team support: Coaches, staff, or players who go above and beyond to support the team's success and growth.
Who can nominate? Anyone in the SMHA community can submit a nomination—teammates, coaches, team staff, and parents. If you notice someone doing something great, whether it's a big play or a small act of kindness, we want to hear about it!
Let’s celebrate the efforts that make our hockey community great—on the ice and off!
The "Flyer of the Week" will be featured on our Facebook page as well as our website! We will reach out to confirm consent before sharing a player photo on our social media.
