A few more admin details to get out today - please ensure you read to the bottom for details of our first tournament.
- Our schedule will be populated on our team calendar
- Wednesday nights are goalie only, don't want all players showing up for that) - for this week we are as follows:
- Wed at 6pm ECV Goalie Session (just for goalies)
- Thurs at 6pm-7:30pm Arena Skills
- Thurs at 7:20pm Arena Mezz Parent's Meeting
- Sat at 6:30am Stadium Practice
- Sun at 10am Arena Practice (until league games kick in)
- Parent's Meeting this Thursday in the Mezzanine - we'll have introductions of our coaches and admin team. If we are able, we may start this right at 6pm. If all coaches are needed on the ice, then we'll look to run through it quickly at 7:20pm right after practice. We'll have a deck prepared for this that we will circulate afterwards, if anyone is unable to attend.
- A family who wishes to remain anonymous has rented the Sackville Heights Community Centre Gym for the team this coming Sunday (23rd) from 6-7pm - looking to get the kids in a social environment to get to know each other better and parents are welcome to stay too. They have all the equipment for a variety of sports - please bring a hockey stick, gloves, water and a helmet - we will enforce these are worn should they play hockey.
- Sackville Heights Community Centre Gym: 45 Connolly Road
There are not many tournaments listed just yet, so we are taking what's available. We will talk more about tournaments at the parent's meeting. We are in the process of registering for the Riverview Fall Classic in Moncton (NB) running the weekend of November 25-27 - please save this date. Let me know if your player is unavailable to attend. Like all shortages we are facing in the post-pandemic world, hotels are scarce and pricey. This is also Black Friday shopping weekend, which doesn't help. After calling numerous hotels, we have a solution and set of rooms blocked with coaches approvals. The Holiday Inn Express (777 Mapleton Road, right off the highway and about 11 minutes from the rink we will be playing at) offers complimentary breakfast, free parking and a pool (no waterslide, sorry!). Our room allocation is 6 queen standard rooms (2 queen beds), 6 queen suite rooms (2 queen beds + a pull-out couch) and 5 king suite rooms (1 king bed and a pull-out couch). We know this is not ideal, so this is what I need to know:
- Let me know if you do not need a hotel in Moncton (if you may choose to stay with family, friends, or look for your own accommodations)
-
- Please let me know if you would be willing to take a suite (indicate whether queen or king) - some families may prefer the extra space. The hotel is also pet friendly if that's a concern. My family will take a suite to get the ball rolling
- The standard rooms are about $176 per night before tax while the suites (king or queen) are about $208 per night before tax.
- Let me know by Wednesday EOD please if you would like to take a suite - no response and I'll assume it's not your preference
- Once we know what we're working with Wednesday night, we will do a random draw at the rink Thursday for the standard rooms (this is the fairest way to run this), those names that don't receive a standard room will unfortunately need to take a queen or king suite
- We are on a waitlist if more rooms become available, we will swap out suites for standards
- Please do not call the hotel yet to reserve from our block as we sort through these arrangements
If there are any questions on any of this, please do not hesitate to reach out.
