Registration Update: Government-Issued Identification Required
Good Evenining,
Registration is now well underway. Thank you to the ~25% of our membership who are already registered for the season!
Our lovely Registrar Heather Doucet (Registration@FlyersHockey.ca) has requested that some information be shared about Proof of Residency within the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR).
As per Hockey Nova Scotia Regulations, Regulation Four: Residency, Section 4.11 (Page 24, screenshot highlighted below), guardians must provide Government-Issued Documentation to establish the player's "habitual residence", which is defined as where the player resides at least 4 of 7 days per week.
The regulation goes on to clarify specifically that HNS does not accept documentation from Schools, Utility Companies, or Telecommunication Companies. (At one time, those items were accepted as proof, but the Regulations have changed.)
Please keep this Regulation in mind as you register your player(s) this season.
Parents and Guardians can Log On to HCR and upload Government-Issued Documentation showing their SMHA-area address to their player's profile at any time. Please consider checking your HCR Account proactively for this information. This will reduce the need for Heather - our volunteer Registrar - to follow up with families individually.
In order for SMHA to remain compliant, families with documentation in HCR that does not meet the criteria above will be contacted and asked to provide compliant Government-Issued Documentation.
Thank you.
Please contact Heather (Registration@FlyersHockey.ca) for more information.
