AGM Vote Results

Thank you to everyone who came out to the AGM tonight, as well as to everyone who showed up to vote for our Nominees

We would like to congratulate the following people on being the successful candidates for terms in the following positions:

VP U9- Ryan Brewer (By acclamation)

VP Risk Management- Craig Foley (By acclamation)

VP Operations- Kim Gray

VP Competitive- Brad Aucoin

VP U7- Matt Brown

Secretary- Melissa Berkvens

Changes to the bylaws were also approved in the vote tonight.

Thank you to all candidates.  In the coming weeks we will be putting out a call for board positions and hope to see some of you get involved in one of these positions.

Seeking Evaluators for Fall 2024 Competitive Tryouts

On behalf of the SMHA Board & Executive, the Competitive Tryouts committee is preparing a list of qualified Hockey Evaluators to potentially draw from for SMHA's Competitive Tryouts this fall.
 
More details and an updated Competitive Tryout Policy will be shared in the coming months.
 
Evaluators will be expected to attend a training session and will not participate in the evaluation of any Division for which they have a conflict of interest.
 
Exact dates are TBA. Typically this will be in mid-to-late September and/or early October 2024.
 
Evaluators will be compensated financially, with more details to follow.

Bylaw Amendments: Creation of Ice Scheduler and Ombudsman

To our Members,
 
 
The above document is a proposed amendment to the SMH Bylaws. All changes are visible in redline as compared to the current SMH Bylaws. 
 
The most significant changes being proposed are the creation of new Ice Scheduler and Ombudsman positions. These changes are being proposed as a result of conversations we've had with various members throughout the year and a review of other associations' best practices.
 
This proposed amendment will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting on June 9th which will be a vote to "Accept" or "Reject" the amendment in its entirety.

Nominations for Executive Positions Now Closed

Nominations for the Executive positions up for election for the upcoming season are now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted their nominations and to those who accepted nominations made on their behalf. The election will be held following the AGM on June 9th (details to follow). The current SMHA Executive would like to thank Ryan Brewer for reoffering as VP of U9  and Craig Foley for Risk Management and congratulate them on the acclamation of these positions as they are running unopposed.
